Advanced medical training at the OCM
The OCM München is fully accredited to offer advanced courses for supplementary training in orthopedic rheumatology. It is also authorized to offer advanced training as a specialist for orthopedics and trauma surgery as well as supplementary training in hand surgery. Advanced training as a specialist for orthopedics and trauma surgery O/U
The specialist medical training in orthopedics and trauma surgery lasts for a total of 72 months, 24 months of which have to be spent in surgery and 48 months in orthopedics and trauma surgery. The residency training in orthopedics and trauma surgery has to be with a certified professional trainer at an institution of continuing education in accordance with § 5 (1) sentence 1 of the Model Regulations on Continuing Medical Education.
The professional title of consultant is awarded on successful completion of the further training.
Supplementary training in orthopedic rheumatology
Further training in orthopedic rheumatology involves supplementary training in addition to specialist skills. It concentrates on the identification and operative treatment of rheumatic diseases. A prerequisite is the qualification as a specialist for orthopedics and trauma surgery or for surgery with a focus on trauma surgery or for orthopedics.
The training lasts for 36 months. It takes place at an institution of continuing education for orthopedic rheumatology in accordance with § 5 (1) sentence 3 of the Model Regulations on Continuing Medical Education.
Supplementary training in hand surgery
Further training in hand surgery involves supplementary training in addition to specialist skills. This covers the prevention, identification, treatment, after-care and rehabilitation of diseases, injuries, tumors and malformations of the hand and distal forearm. Their reconstruction following diseases or injuries also forms part of the advanced training. A prerequisite is the qualification as a specialist in the field of surgery.
The residency training lasts for 36 months. It takes place at an institution of continuing education for hand surgery in accordance with § 5 (1) sentence 3 of the Model Regulations on Continuing Medical Education.
Supplementary training in skeletal X-ray diagnostics
Further training in skeletal X-ray diagnostics involves supplementary training in addition to specialist skills. It concentrates on the performance and reporting of area-related X-ray diagnostics for the skeleton.
It takes place at an institution of continuing education for radiology in accordance with § 5 (1) sentence 2 or at an institution of continuing education for X-ray diagnostics – subject-specific – in accordance with § 5 (1) sentence 3. The training lasts for 12 months.
